In 2020, we sent out a survey asking for Lane County residents to nominate their top picks in 12 different categories. We wanted to showcase local businesses, who have felt the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and who could use a little extra love right now. We asked survey takers to write in a first and second place pick, which we scored accordingly. As a result, we bring you Lane County’s Top Picks for Places to Take the Kids!

Adventure Children’s Museum
Fully community-built, with exhibits made from recycled, upcycled, and reused materials, the Adventure! Children’s Museum seeks to foster curiosity and creativity through interactive, educational, and fun exhibits. A large pirate ship sits in the middle of the museum, built by Urban Lumber Company in Springfield. They also have exhibits that let kids experience different countries, building a house, and more, all with hands-on learning.

Alton Baker Park
Alton Baker Park is Eugene’s largest developed park, boasting all the best amenities a park can offer. Test your aim at the disc golf course, let you dog run free at the off-leash area, catch a show at the Cuthbert, or just stroll along the river or through the Whilamut Natural Area.

Eugene Science Center
The Eugene Science Center offers near infinite opportunities for your kids (and you!) to learn and explore the science behind astronomy, mechanics, biology, water sciences, nanotechnology, and more. Check out the recently updated planetarium for live stargazing programs and full-dome shows. They also offer summer camps to keep your kiddos learning.
