With every New Year, many of us turn our thoughts to goal-setting, usually centered around changing our eating or exercise habits. Given our busy lives, it can be hard to accommodate our goal of leading a healthier lifestyle. However, there is one place in town that makes it easy to eat cleaner and get in a workout all in the same place: Oakway Center.

Oakway Center has seen a number of changes in recent years, including an upswing in wellness-centered businesses like Nekter Juice Bar and Barre3. Treat yourself to a wellness day at Oakway Center!

START YOUR MORNING

Sometimes all you need to kick off a new health regimen is the right clothes. Lululemon specializes in yoga and jogging clothes for men and women. They have options for all weather conditions, including down vests, water-resistant jackets, and running tights specially designed for cold weather. Of course, if you are planning on sweating it up indoors, there are lots of stylish tank tops and sports bras to outfit you for comfort.

When it comes to working out, there are a couple of options. Barre3 offers a total-body workout that combines stretching, cardio bursts, and muscle-building movements. You can customize your workout with resistance bands, sliders, and weights for maximum results.

Another workout choice is Orangetheory Fitness. Their one-hour classes allow you to go at your own pace, whether you’re walking, jogging, running, biking, or striding. If it’s your first class, you will spend the first 30 minutes on a treadmill, bike, or strider. The second part of class focuses on strength training, using a combination of floor exercises to strengthen each muscle group.

FUEL UP

Post-workout, you’re going to want to refuel your body, which means drinking lots of water and replenishing energy levels with one of Oakway’s healthy food options. Nekter Juice Bar is a great place to load up on your fruits and veggies for the day. The Toxin Flush (which combines parsley, spinach, apple, lemon, and ginger) is perfect for post-workout rejuvenation. If you’re in the mood for lunch, try one of Nekter’s açai bowls. You can top your blended açai with a variety of fruits, granola, nuts, or even peanut butter for an extra protein punch.

RELAX AND REJUVENATE

Now that you’ve exercised and fueled your body, it’s time to unwind with a spa treatment at Chikara Salon and Spa. The Stress Buster Massage is a great way to relax. This massage focuses on the areas of the body where we tend to hold stress: our hands, feet, head, neck, and shoulders.

You can also opt to glam up for an evening of dinner and drinks. Chikara offers 30-minute makeup applications using Jane Iredale cosmetics that match your skin tone, as well as special occasion makeup options.

CHEERS TO A LOVELY DAY

Nothing quite caps the day like the perfect meal. Chef Alejandro Cruz at Novo Modern Latin Table fuses flavors from Spain, Mexico, Peru, and elsewhere to create dishes that make your taste buds sing. From the Mussels de España to the Fire-Grilled Argentine Skirt Steak, Novo has exceptional dining options.

With a full belly, head across the way to Sky Bar at Hyatt Place for a scenic view of the city from their outdoor rooftop patio. But don’t worry about the cold—the bar features a warm fire pit to cozy up to while enjoying your nightcap. Cheers to that!
