DisOrient Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exceptional line-up of live and virtual film screenings as well as in-person Q&A’s with filmmakers. University Of Oregon Visiting Artist Lecture Series- Ari Melenciano: Critical Imagination |
In this presentation, Ari Melenciano will share a survey of her recent works. Her art touches on a wide range of mediums, including technology, culture, design and pedagogy. Ari enjoys imagining the worlds around us and within ourselves through explorations of AI and the collective subconscious and celestial botany, respectively. Ari Melenciano is the founder of Afrotectopia, a social institution that imagines new possibilities at the nexus of art, design, technology, and culture. 4–5pm, free. DisOrient Asian Film Festival |
The 20th Anniversary DisOrient Asian American Film Festival of Oregon is a hybrid festival with an exceptional line-up of live and virtual film screenings as well as in-person Q&A’s with filmmakers. Celebrate the broad range of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander ancestors who dared to traverse the Pacific–seeking adventure, a new life, a forever family and refuge. Join in gathering around their stories and their shared experiences, and inspiring the community to sow life-giving seeds for the future. The action starts with an early preview of “Motherload” on Feb. 15th, with in person screenings and filmmakers post-screening Q&A’s. Winter Carnival at Hoodoo
| The premiere event of the season and a day full of free activities. Winter Carnival has been a tradition at Hoodoo for 40+ years and includes a number of free events (no lift ticket required): ax throwing booth, frisbee golf, musical chairs, a three-legged obstacle race, a team tube race, a hula-hoop contest, a fly-athalon, a pie eating contest, a ski javelin throw, an archery contest, a Hoodoo employee snow sculpture contest and bingo. Selected Paintings from the Estate of Mark Clarke
| Karin Clarke Gallery’s new exhibit, Selected Paintings from the Estate of Mark Clarke, draws attention to his wide artistic range by showcasing three different categories of works: a splendid selection of the Oregon landscapes for which he became so well-known, several figurative pieces such as faces and farmers market scenes, and a series of abstract, experimental pieces highlighting his gift for composition.
