This is the week of Valentine’s Day! If you celebrate, we hope you have a wonderful time, whether that is with your bestie, your family, alone, or as a couple. Whatever you do, aim for enjoyment! There are many Valentine’s-related events this week such as a charcuterie board class at Jazzy Ladies Cafe. Kids can learn to make Valentine’s treats and snacks at a cooking workshop at Erin’s Table. Ballet Fantastique presents “Pride & Prejudice: A Parisian Jazz Ballet” featuring the Gerry Rempel Jazz Syndicate at their downtown studio. Couples can create intertwined heart tree paintings while sipping their favorite drinks at 5th Street Market with Art with Alejandro. The Second Friday Art Walk features live music and artist receptions throughout downtown Springfield’s historic district. Head to the coast for an exclusive pop-up dining experience at the 2025 Newport Seafood & Wine Festival.

Mhondoro | Mhondoro is a band which melds Zimbabwean tradition and American jazz. It is a 5 person cooperative in which every member has full artistic agency in the project. Mhondoro has released their first album, “Heatwave,” in 2021 and their second release, titled “Ngatibatanei / Let Us Unite!” in 2024. Taichi Conducts Brahms – Eugene Symphony | Clayton Stephenson, “a remarkable virtuoso and master storyteller” (Gramophone) takes the Fifth Piano Concerto of Beethoven, a piece both heroic and tragic. Framing the program are Hannah Kendall’s The Spark Catchers — inspired by a poem of the same name about women match makers in the 1880s — and Brahms’ rich, autumnal, noble, and heart-wrenching Fourth Symphony.
