Jennifer James is Eugene’s luxury kitchen and bath showroom, bringing current trends and products to Oregon. In the new showroom, visitors can experience innovative solutions for transformation living. Jennifer James is designed to partner with architects, builders, and homeowners by providing design services and product selections. “As a resource for these individuals we offer on-trend selections and quality materials that fit a range of lifestyles and budgets,” says Jennifer Castile, founder and showroom consultant. Starting in 2024, Castile reports that her team is seeing a big movement towards home wellness, bold colors such as peach and green, and integrated lighting to include thoughtfully organized spaces throughout the home.
“When we have our things either put away or important things that are visible to us, it creates a sense of relaxation and comfort,” explains Castile. “Organization goes hand in hand with wellness.”
Beyond creating calm, well-organized spaces boost efficiency in daily routines while helping homeowners stay budget-conscious by preventing duplicate purchases of items they already own but can’t find. James notes that modern storage solutions can be customized to fit any lifestyle and space.
Custom Closets
Today’s closet systems offer multiple tiers of hanging rods, adjustable shelving, built-in drawers, and specialized storage for accessories like jewelry, ties, and belts. Height-appropriate design ensures accessibility — shorter clients can have hanging rods positioned lower, eliminating the need for step stools. James emphasizes that proper organization also helps preserve clothing by preventing delicate fabrics from getting crushed.
“When it’s all put away correctly, you’re actually taking care of those items,” Castile notes. “You’re able to care for your clothing better so they last longer.”
Pantry Solutions
Modern pantry design focuses on visibility and accessibility. Pull-out wire baskets accommodate vegetables and dry goods, while customizable shelving systems can be configured for canned goods, boxed items, or fresh storage. The goal is to make all items visible and easily accessible while maximizing available space.
“Organization here helps us know what we have so we don’t over-buy,” Castile explains.
Kitchen Integration
Storage solutions have evolved beyond traditional closets and pantries. Castile points to innovations in kitchen cabinetry like pull-out trash and recycling bins, vertical sheet pan storage, and specialized compartments for coffee and cooking utensils. Particularly notable are appliance elevators that can raise and lower heavy stand mixers, eliminating the need to lift them manually.
“There are so many solutions to decluttering your home,” James says. “For example, you roll out the drawer, have everything you need, roll it back in, and you’re done.”
Bathroom Evolution
Even medicine cabinets are being reimagined with built-in outlets, magnification mirrors, and magnetic storage solutions. Some high-end models appear as simple mirrors while concealing extensive storage space. Vanity innovations include styling tool roll-outs with integrated power outlets, keeping tools and products organized and cords off countertops.
“There are storage solutions for anything you need to store,” Castile concludes. “Taking the time to invest in proper organization enhances how you live in your home while creating that sense of calm and peace that comes with everything having its place.”
Alley Project
Goal: Enhance functionality and storage, preserve windows and natural light.
Important Elements: Create hidden storage with a smart combination of drawers and shelving. Double hanging rods and tall rods maximize vertical space. Closet’s custom cabinetry pairs beautifully with the primary bathroom vanity, creating a streamlined design.
“With everything in one organized space, the need for bulky bedroom dressers is eliminated, reclaiming that space for other uses in your home,” says Castile.
Gray Project
Pantry
Goal: Custom pantry with ample storage for food, kitchen appliances, and special occasion items.
Important Elements: Shelving and basket storage. Upper shelf above the cubby storage provides a dedicated space for taller items like food dispensers or large containers to maximize vertical space.
“One of my personal favorite features of this pantry is how everything — dry goods and canned items — are clearly visible and easy to access all at once. This makes it quick and efficient to see what you have on hand what you might need for a meal, and even what you can prepare with the ingredients you already have. It’s all about making meal planning and prep simpler and more organized!” says Castile
Laundry
Goal: Convenient, easy laundry and pet care.
Important Elements: Hidden cat box can be easily rolled under the washer, making it convenient to clean and do laundry.
“We all have pets, and this is a creative way to maximize your space while accommodating your furry friends,” says Castile.
Peters Project
Goal: Convert an existing, partially finished attic space into a luxurious second walk-in closet.
Important Elements: Integrated custom cabinetry and design maximizes available space, creating an ample closet and a dedicated laundry space with washer, dryer, and folding station. A range of hanging storage was a top priority for this project. Shelving displays and stores jewelry, purses, shoes, and other personal items. Space for cleaning products and other necessities above the washer and dryer make this closet a true multi-purpose space.
“One of my favorite additions to this design is the incorporation of the washer and dryer. For this couple, who didn’t have anyone else living in the house, bringing the laundry units upstairs — right where most of the laundry was generated — significantly boosts the overall efficiency of their daily routine.”
Rissman Project
Kitchen
Goal: Everything within reach.
Important Elements: Super Susan rotating corner cabinet. Pull-out trash and recycling. Extra-deep bar storage.
Closet/Bathroom
Goal: Open, efficient space with seamless connection to bathroom and bedroom.
Important Elements: With limited space, hidden shelving and drawers were essential. Adding two hanging rods provides space for long and short garments (dresses and coats; shirts and pants). A dressing mirror offers a full-length view.
Vanity
Goal: Maximizing storage.
Important Elements: Top drawer under the sink was cleverly customized with a cut-out around the drain.
“This ensures the drawer remains fully functional, offering valuable storage space without sacrificing utility,” says Castile.
