The holidays are now in full swing as we enter the second weekend of December. This weekend, enjoy events themed for the season, including a trail run, a wreath making workshop, and out of town options for a day trip.

Mt. Pisgah Frozen Trail RunFest

Lace up your running shoes and hit the trail for the Mt. Pisgah Frozen Trail Run Fest on Saturday. Participants can choose from four different distances: 5K (3.1 miles), 15K (9.3 miles), 25K (15.5 miles), or 50K (31.1 miles) for the truly ambitious. You can register at Eugene Running Company or Run Hub NW through Friday at noon, or on race day at the start from 8-9:25 am.

Mt. Pisgah Mushroom Walk

If strolling through forests with experienced mycologists (fungi experts) is more your speed, join Chris Melotti and Molly Widmer of the Cascade Mycological Society in the hunt for local mushrooms. Talk about the unique characteristics of mushrooms in the Willamette Valley and how they impact the ecosystem around them.

A Holiday Show on Ice – “A Night at the Movies”

Enjoy an evening with the Eugene Figure Skating Club as they show off their toe jumps and edge jumps to holiday classics. In lieu of payment, please bring a new, unwrapped book for the Relief Nursery, a local nonprofit organization that works to help local families with young children.

Victorian Christmas at Heceta Head Lighthouse

The Heceta Head Lighthouse in Florence is decked out in Victorian Christmas-themed decorations and ready to see visitors. Stop by on Saturday or Sunday for drinks, treats, and Santa Claus, as well as to visit the gift shop to cross those last few people off your list.  Can’t make it this weekend? You can still celebrate a Victorian Christmas with the Lighthouse Saturday and Sunday next weekend as well.

Eugene Waldorf School Winter Light Fair

This weekend at the Eugene Waldorf School, there is something for everyone at their Winter Light Fair. Activities include candle dipping, a puppet show, the Crystal Cookie Cave, live music, and the Russian Tea Room, among much more. Most booths activities require individual tickets to participate, which are $2 each.

Make We Merry – Eugene Gleeman at Hult Center

This weekend at the Hult Center, Eugene vocal performers will ring in the season with traditional carols, tributes to classics, and sing-along opportunities at Make We Merry. This concert will feature the 100-voice Eugene Concert Choir with special guest Calvin Orlando Smith, a cappella pop group Rezonate, the South Eugene High School Dorians, the Eugene Gleemen, and the Women’s Choral Society.
