Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates! If you’re happy to be cozy at home with your family and friends, or need a way to escape for a little while, heading out to Elizabeth’s Wine Lounge or Sundance Wine Cellars for wine tasting and music is a great idea. The snow shows and photos with Santa continue at 5th Street Public Market this weekend. The Holiday Market continues for three days this weekend, until Christmas Eve. There are many opportunities for holiday-themed performances this week. Enjoy comedy at WildCraft or a laser adventure at the Eugene Science Center for a new Christmas week tradition, or take your family to Eugene Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” to continue a cherished tradition. The Hult Center hosts “Christmas with C.S. Lewis,” while Cottage Theatre’s “Elf” continues through December 23.

Christmas with C.S. Lewis
| C.S. Lewis believed the story of Christ’s birth was nothing more than feel-good myth. That all changed after an encounter with his great friend and fellow author, J.R.R. Tolkien. Although both men loved mythology in general, Tolkien was convinced that the Jesus myth was the one true myth. That was the start of Lewis’ journey from Atheism to Christianity.
