’Twas the week before Christmas and all through Eugene, the people were bustling, adorned in red and green. Events where still happening through the county with flair, in hopes that celebrations would happen there.

Winter Ale Fest

Celebrate our local brews at Winter Ale Fest at the Bier Stein, hosted by the Eugene Ale Trail. There will be seasonal beers for you to sample from area breweries like Alesong Brewing, Ninkasi, Viking Braggot Company, The Wheel Apizza Pub, Falling Sky Brewing, and WildCraft Cider Works, among others.

Winter Camping Workshop

It is possible to camp in the winter, giving you access to stunning winter wonderlands that are yours alone to witness. REI is hosting a workshop to give you some tips and tricks for weathering the cold and staying warm and safe. Register in advance on their website.

Iris

The Maude Kerns Art Center is showing Iris through their monthly Movies at Maude’s series this Thursday. This 2014 documentary covers the life of fashion icon Iris Apfel and her signature dark-rimmed glasses.

The Radio Redux Christmas Special

Radio Redux is hosting their Christmas special this weekend, with throwbacks to hit radio programs and songs from yesteryear. There will also be a pre-show lecture an hour before the show with Patrick Lucanio.

The Nutcracker

Warm up at the Jingle Bells Run on Sunday, hosted by Eclectic Edge Racing. After the race, enjoy hot soup, chili, and grilled cheese sandwiches while listening to live music.

Giant Menorah Lighting

Adventure! All-day Harry Potter Read-a-Thon

Spend Christmas Eve participating in the Read-a-Thon at Adventure! Children’s Museum. The entirety of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will be read throughout the day, read in 15- to 60-minute increments by volunteer readers (you can be one, too!). Make golden snitch ornaments, decorate cookies, and drink Butterbeer along the way.
